One evening, in March 1999, I strange dream where I returned to Camp Ross Trails. In my dream, I found all the buildings intact and the entrance marker still at the road. This was very unusual since I had not thought of the camp in years. One day in April, on a trip back home from Oxford, Ohio, I mentioned the dream to my mother and we made a stop to see if anything was still there.
Sure enough, there were those markers at the road! And, with a little sleuthing and help from a friend who lived in the Ross area, I found that the basic camp remained intact. Unfortunately, the camp buildings have now been demolished and replaced with a subdivision, with the streets named after the old camp units!
On May 1, 1999, we received special permission from the current owners to explore the camp. We took pictures and a video for archive purposes and to share with people like you who are interested what the camp looked like then.
